The First Month of Treatment

Treatment at Ellenhorn starts the minute our clients walk through our doors. During the first month, we work collaboratively with clients, helping them choose from, and engage in a wide range of personalized treatments, while also supporting them in returning to meaningful life pursuits, such as work, school, and volunteering.

The first month of treatment is also our time for planning more sustained care. We do so through a combination of assessments and collaborative discussions with our clients about their visions for the future. We call the result of this process The Roadmap to Recovery. In contrast to the way most programs view the treatment-planning stage, we don’t regard this process as something that must happen before treatment can begin — something apart from treatment. Instead, we believe that a client’s active engagement in treatment produces valuable insights for them, their family and our team.

To build the “The Roadmap” we typically conduct a series of interviews and assessments, each addressing a facet of a complex individual. Included are neuropsychological and psychological tests, psychiatric and neurological exams, and assessments of physical wellness, family dynamics, substance use, spirituality, social/developmental issues, and educational and vocational experiences.

The costs for the first month of treatment are as follows:

Boston: $18,000
New York: $23,000

Sustained PACT Services

The costs for treatment following the first month are based on levels of intensity of services needed by our clients. When we near the end of our first month, we have a good picture of these levels, and inform clients and their families of them. These levels change during our work, most often decreasing over time, but also increasing depending on what is occurring for our clients. On their second month with us, most clients are served within our medium to high ranges of intensity.

The ranges of intensity and the costs are as follows:

Levels of Intensity

Maintenance – $7,250 in Boston, $8,500 in New York. At this level, a client is likely seeing his or her psychiatrist once or twice monthly, and sees members of his or her team two to three times a week.

Low – $9,500 in Boston, $11,000 in New York. All of our treatment services, usually seen 1-2 times daily.

Medium – $13,000 in Boston, $15,000 in New York. All of our treatment services, usually seen 2-3 times daily.

High – $16,500 in Boston, $18,500 in New York. All of our treatment services, usually seen 3-4 times daily.

High/Extensive – $22,000 in Boston, $25,000 in New York. All of our treatment services, usually seen 4-5 times daily.
