Jessica Garner earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and speech-language pathology from Marymount Manhattan College in New York, N.Y., and a master’s degree in social work from Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y. Before joining the Ellenhorn team as a full-time clinician, she worked with Ellenhorn for five years in a PACT support role for which she assisted clients on nights and weekends. Jessica believes that supporting clients’ autonomy in order to help them feel empowered, self-determined and in control of their lives is the key to prolonged stability, and that the client-centered approach that Ellenhorn provides creates a safe and supportive environment in which clients feel respected. She is certain that building rapport and strong therapeutic alliances with her clients helps move them in the direction of achieving their goals.
