Miles Roberts, LMSW

Miles Roberts is a licensed social worker with diverse experience providing support and counseling to adults and adolescents who struggle with dynamic psychiatric and psychosocial difficulties. Miles earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and a master’s degree in social work from Columbia University in New York, N.Y. Prior to joining Ellenhorn New York’s PACT team, Miles worked as a substance-use treatment counselor and group-therapy facilitator in Marin County, Calif., and San Quentin State Prison, as well as at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center’s psychiatric emergency room, where he helped clients and their families navigate the difficulties of the traditional mental health-care system by meeting clients with unconditional positive regard and providing therapeutic case management.

Miles uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Internal Family Systems models of care to help clients gain insight into past experiences, modes of thinking and behaviors. He is passionate about empowering clients to succeed in the face of psychosocial difficulties and utilizes mindfulness-based practices to help clients respond to difficulties in more beneficial ways. Miles also utilizes a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to collaboratively address struggles within the client’s mind and body and the systems that surround them. Above all, Miles is committed to fostering a safe, compassionate and helpful therapeutic space in which clients can grow and effectively build a more joyful and self-actualized life.
