Sarah Shulbank Smith, LCAT, MT-BC

PACT Clinician/Art Therapist; Expressive Arts, Team NY

Sarah Shulbank-Smith (she/her) is a board-certified music therapist and expressive-arts clinician at Ellenhorn who earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pa., and a master’s degree in music therapy and counseling from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pa. Prior to joining the team at Ellenhorn, Sarah worked in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, where she provided daily music and psychotherapy groups for patients five years of age and up. Sarah also has extensive experience working with the LGBTQ+ population, a particular area of passion for her, and looks forward to continuing this work at Ellenhorn. Sarah approaches her clinical work with a person-centered intersectional lens, and strongly believes that creativity and self-expression have the power to promote healing and open new avenues of exploration. She is in the midst of completing a year-long DBT-informed music-therapy training program, which will enhance her ability to work with those with persistent mental-health challenges. In past roles, Sarah has used music therapy (playing instruments, listening to music, singing, music-based mindfulness and more) to foster strong, open relationships with clients of all backgrounds.
