Stevie Spence (they/them) is a certified peer specialist on Ellenhorn Boston’s Alpha Team who is pursuing an associate degree at Middlesex Community College in Bedford, Massachusetts, with the long-term goal of becoming a social worker. Stevie applies a trauma-informed lens to every aspect of their work and is deeply aligned with Ellenhorn’s whole-person approach to psychiatric health care. Stevie centers the autonomy of each client with the knowledge that the client is the expert when it comes to their own life, and uses personal experience born from finding sobriety at a young age and living with post-traumatic stress disorder to build a supportive relationship with each client as they navigate the more clinical aspects of recovery.
